My Celebrant Story
I came across my first Celebrant at a family wedding I was lucky enough to attend in
Australia about 10 years ago.
The wedding was beachside, in the sunshine and was just fabulous! And whilst that particular celebrant probably has no idea of the inspiration she created, I realised this was a seriously potential career goal! However, it still took me another 8 years to get started, and following a successful corporate career in Human Resources, retirement in 2022 gave me the impetus (and freedom) to focus on becoming a Celebrant.
Being UK based means the backdrop to my ceremonies isn’t always as pretty as that beach in Western Australia, but it’s a real privilege to carry out this role and meet some amazing people, hear some fabulous and heart-warming stories and help people go someway to achieving their dreams, in whichever location suits and whatever they may be celebrating, commemorating or saying goodbye.
Born in Manchester, and still proud of my northern roots, I settled in the South-East, some thirty-odd years ago, firstly London and now Essex, following a stint at university and then marrying ‘a Southerner’. I am now a Grandma to 2 grandchildren (12 and 5) who live nearby and keep me busy, as well as an extended family still ‘up North’ where I have a further 4 grandchildren.

My interests include, walking, reading, travelling, a little light exercise, and sport. Although I confess, I enjoy watching sport rather than playing! A big football and cricket fan I have managed to incorporate my love for travel with watching various international matches in several different countries around the world.
Celebrating love, be it a lost love or one found, is a privilege for me. And importantly,
irrespective of age, race, faith, gender or sexual orientation, helping you find a way to celebrate that love and share the commitment you have, or had, in front of others who are important to you, has got to be one of the best jobs ever!
I would be really interested to talk through any plans you may have for a ceremony, or indeed any need you may have for a funeral celebrant or a memorial service. Please do get in touch so we can talk about how to ensure the things that are important to you are represented and incorporated in a ceremony of your choosing.
Whatever the ceremony, it should represent you and your needs.
